Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai (June 2009)

Visited my Singapore friend, John, who had migrated to Chiang Mai, Thailand, many years ago & has done good:- he has a padifield, home & is a self-employed local tour-guide. His home  & furniture (c the 1st four pics) are all self-made by him. I have visited the Night Market, Doi Sutherp, Doi Angkhang, Hill Villagers, Thai-Myanmar Borders and Thai-Golden Triangle border. An enjoyable trip & you can contact John at sishang053@hotmail.com for an enjoyable holiday trip too. Cheers!

Island Tour of Taiwan-ROC : Nov 2009

My family trip to Taiwan was so-so ordinary, though there were some great photos taken at Sun Moon Lake, Chiang Kai Shek Memorial, Taroko Gourge, taipei 101, but we did not fancy much about the shopping & eating out at the night bazaar/markets. But it was a great time, with jokes from our Taiwanese tour-guide Ah Wei, to relax & not think about work. Cheers!

Delicious Indonesian Food By The Road-Sides (May 2009)

Never fear, can always get cheap delicious local food, day and night, along the streets of Indonesia...just make sure it it's freshly cooked (fried or hot soup), and bring along your carbon pills for stomach upsets if stomach is not used to street foods! Always stay cheerful!

Gunung Tangkuban Parahu, Indonesia- May 2009

My relatives in Indonesia brought my family & I to visit a dormant volcano cum "resort park" at Gunung Tangkuban Parahu, Bandung, Indonesia.  Interesting fun place to visit, popular with the local residents, with its ethic shopping, horse-riding, beautiful scenery of the dormant volcano & plenty of sweet strawberries! Many Cheers!

Trave/Visit My Relatives in "Pontianak" Town - May 2009

My visit to the town of "Pontianak" was an eye-opener for my family & I, where the local people lived so simply & so happy.  Those living by the Sungai (river) Kaupas, the longest river in Kalimantan, were bathing, washing their clothings, kids playing and catching fishes for their meals...I salute them for living a simple but contented life. So, what are we, Singaporeans, living a life of stress chasing after empty goals & feeling no happiness & contentment at all.

Resort World Sentosa - Universal Studios (2010)

My family & I had an enjoyable time, wished that I could put more pics in this blog but I do not want my blog to be a satire of pics.

S'pore-Malaysia Railway Visited on 9 July 2011- RIP

End of a era - the closure of the S'pore-Malaysia Railway on 17 July 2011. The pics taken near the Rail Mall, a popular eating-entertainment venue here. There are some plans to preserve the railway but I wouldn't bet on it....maybe preserve only the area around the Bukit Timah Rail Office.  Cheers!
